Welcome to the November Newsletter
It is hard to avoid the issue of Wembley. The pitch was poor and the England team was even worse.
We had been told that the pitch would be the best in the world, and so it should be. Wembley was rebuilt on its previous site as it was considered iconic the world over, and whether it was true or not, the pitch was renowned as the hallowed turf - the best in the world.
We have asked some searching questions on our website about the pitch conditions, and I hope there are people in the positions of power at the FA and Wembley who are able to respond adequately. For a response is certainly needed.
I am regularly being asked to pass comment on national radio and the press as to why the pitch has been so poor, it is a sad indictment that they are unable to get truthfull responses from the people who are actually there.
While there are quite a few people who have a good idea of the problems and the reasons why the pitch has been poor, what sort of signal does it send out to all those working at lower levels, those at college and the people thinking of coming into this Industry?
I don't mind how Wembley get the pitch right, but right it must be for every big event, without excuse.

Advice to improve Fusarium control
Independent research has identified the opportunity for improved control of damaging Fusarium Patch infection through the highest risk winter months, with new Daconil Weather Stik. Trials by STRI (Sports Turf Research Institute) have shown significantly higher levels of winter season disease control on treated greens from a Daconil Weather Stik programme, at 95 to 100% control from November to February, compared to iprodione where control dipped to as low as 45%.
Come the spring, the turf quality on Daconil Weather Stik treated greens were assessed as being 140% better than untreated, demonstrating the far greater persistence.
Turf managers can download the research results and the Syngenta Technical Update on Fusarium Patch control, or visit the web site www.greencast.co.uk
