| Welcome to our November Newsletter |
I know I'm beginning to sound more and more like Victor Meldrew, but I really cannot believe this weather we have had to deal with in the UK this year......and this month has probably topped the lot.
Gales and torrents of water, which have brought untold misery to thousands of people, and especially those living in Cumbria who are trying to recover from unheard of levels of rainfall. Our thoughts go out to them, and our admiration for the way they are resolutely trying to overcome their misfortune.
They certainly don't give up in that part of the country, and full marks to one of our members, Dave Mitchell, who is Head Groundsman at Carlisle United Football Club. He and his staff got into work the day before a match only to find the pitch covered in 8 inches of water. Somehow, working all day, and on guard all night, they managed to get it playable for the match. No wonder our groundsmen and greenkeepers are considered to be amongst the best in the world.
Well done to Dave and all the other grounds staff around the country who are having to cope with similar difficulties.
In the build-up to Christmas, we have come up with a fantastic offer which will benefit all the mini groundsmen and greenkeepers in the country. We have teamed up with John Deere in a promotion which means that anyone who buys one of their toy tractors (or accessories) from us, will have a full refund if it snows on Christmas Day.
A white Christmas and a Free Toy - who says there isn't a Father Christmas?
Regards

| Dealing with Difficult People and Situations |
Newly Accredited Lantra Awards Course
This one day course will be of value to anyone whose working environment brings them into contact with the general public, e.g. school sportsfields, local authority amenity land, village or community sports facilities and play areas, public parks and gardens, theme and leisure parks.
Training can be organised at your own venue or premises, and your staff will learn how to deal with situations of potential conflict and misunderstanding; events which demand well-developed communication skills if they are to be dealt with sensitively, with the best possible outcome being achieved for all concerned.
