Winter Training
Traditionally, this is the time of year when the groundsman or greenkeeper's thoughts turn to what training he and his staff might take part in during the winter, while the weather prevents much of the practical work being carried out.
Trouble is, that’s as far as it usually goes – thinking about it!
So this year, why not get ahead of yourself? Next time you have half an hour to spare, sit down with a cuppa and analyse what training you and your staff need in order to bring you up-to-date with Health and Safety requirements, CPD schemes etc., then get in touch with Pitchcare!
We have a network partnership of Lantra registered providers who are running courses all over the country, eg Pesticides, Chainsaws, Hedgecutters, Brushcutters/trimmers, Mowers etc. These courses will get booked up quickly as the winter progresses (many January courses are already full), so the earlier you get booked on, the better.
Remember, for groups of 4 or more we can often arrange bespoke training at your own premises.
In addition, our in-house instructors (including Pitchcare’s very own Dave Saltman) are on standby to repeat the popular 1-day General Turf Maintenance courses on winter and/or summer sports, so if you would like to be added to our waiting list for either of these, just let me know. As soon as we have interest from sufficient people in a particular area, we can identify a local venue and run the course.
My e-mail address for any training topics is chris@pitchcare.com.
Look forward to hearing from you!
Management Training
Early in November we held the first day of our 2-day Essential Management Skills course and the delegates are now implementing their learning back in the workplace, ready to bring case studies back to the table on the second day in February.
This popular course was oversubscribed and we already have several people lined up for a repeat. If you are interested in taking part, let me know and when we have enough candidates we will run the course again at a central location later this winter/early spring.
Safe Manual Handling Course
Is there anyone in the Cheshire or Suffolk areas interested in doing Safe Manual Handling Training in January? We have a couple of people on our waiting list and would like to run a course in either or both of these areas, if we can get sufficient take up. Let me know if you are interested.
Mechanics Course
Lastly, can I pick your brains? I have had several enquiries from greenkeepers and groundstaff who are interested in doing a general mechanics course, so that they can carry out their own routine maintenance and service on their mowers/tractors etc. If any of you know of such a course, could you pass the information on to me, please?
