Welcome to the September Newsletter

Dave Saltman, MD Pitchcare
Mother Nature keeps testing us. Just as the summer sports are getting into their end of season renovations we get a bit of a cold snap to slow down the germination of the new seed. Let's hope it doesn't last too long. After all the trials and tribulations of this year, an early prolonged freeze is something we don't need.

On a different subject, I am pleased to announce that Pitchcare is now an Approved Lantra Training Provider. We have been organising courses for some time, working with colleges and private training providers, in response to enquiries we receive from members, and these will continue. Additionally, we are fortunate to have the support of many of the UK's top Groundsmen and Greenkeepers and we will now be involving them in our training courses which will be taking place in different regions of the country. We will keep you informed of courses, dates and venues via our Training Newsletters

Education is the key to moving our industry forward, and we are delighted to be playing a part.

Training in Winter Sports Turf Maintenance

STOP PRESS...............Pitchcare is now a Lantra Awards Approved Training Provider

Learn from the best. During the winter we will be running a series of sports turf maintenance courses around the country using some of the industry's top professional groundsmen. The one day courses are designed to provide a basic knowledge of grounds maintenance for winter sports surfaces (rugby/football) and will be of equal benefit to those who work alone on a sports ground, including volunteers and part time grounds people, or members of groundstaff teams.

The first course will be delivered by Pitchcare’s own Dave Saltman at Wolverhampton Wanderers impressive stadium, Molineux, on Thursday 15th November 2007.

What you will learn:

Safe working practices.
How to provide playing surfaces to the required standard.
How to use and compare the different materials available.
How to use and compare the range of equipment/machinery available.
How to carry out renovation to the pitch after the game.
How to carry out maintenance of equipment and machinery.

The total cost for the day is just £85 + VAT per person, which includes all training, the Pitchcare Winter Sports Turf Maintenance Manual, lunch and refreshments. All delegates will receive a Pitchcare Certificate of Attendance. Numbers are limited to 12 per course.
