Undersoil heating in general

12 replies - Last reply at 6th Feb 12 21:51:57 - I thought this was topical seeing as there are numerous league casualties this weekend. Have Portsmouth postponed because they have no undersoil heating or no money to fire it up? You have to feel for them really seeing as they really needed the gate money this weekend. Has anyone looked further into heat exchange and undersoil heating bearing in mind the talk before Christmas? What occurred to me was that St James Park (or whatever it's called now) should be the ideal place to experiment with this. N

african cup of nations

7 replies - Last reply at 5th Feb 12 23:17:35 - As we have seen in the past, groundsmen in both wembley and aviva here in Dublin have unfairly come under pressure with the condition of the pitches even in friendlies. Now i put on the telly and watch the final stages of the ACON and to me the pitches are nothing but clay and a bit of paint.... If any club groundsman presented their pitches like that they would be axed.

10 replies - Last reply at 28th Jan 12 16:17:54 - I am thinking of having the BLEC Groundbreaker with the sand attchment for the end of season renovation of my football pitch. If the groundbreaker can go to a depth of 9-10" how much sand would approximately be used on an average sized football pitch?
sand based winter sports pitches

2 replies - Last reply at 15th Jan 12 16:57:35 - Is there a basic rule of thumb for the quantity of fertiliser required on sand based winter sports pitches? Or can someone managing these type of grass surfaces give me a rough idea of their application programme? I realise that this should be dependant on soil analysis but being sand I would assume that there is a ball park figure and an outline programme.

Undersoil heating - cost issues

6 replies - Last reply at 18th Dec 11 11:03:02 - Just read the article about Undersoil Heating in the SFL on the Home page and had a thought - "Is there any way in which the Ground Source Heat Pump System (GSHPS) being used to heat domestic house's water could not be adapted to work under a football pitch to provide undersoil heating?" I can certainly see that the costs of £3,500 of fuel for 2 days heating would crucify many Club budgets. However, if you could sink a GSHPS under the pitch (I think it has to be a metre below ground surface), b
