An insecticide for control of Leatherjackets and Frit Fly in amenity grassland and managed turf. Leatherjackets can cause serious damage to turf.
The adult Crane flies are active in the late summer to autumn period with each female laying about 200-300 eggs. These hatch into larvae in about 14 days and remain in the soil for about 9 months before pupating and then hatching into the next season's Crane Fly. The larvae feed on the turf (and roots) biting off stems at or just below ground level, resulting in the turf dying back, often in clumps. This leads to bare patches which are then prone to weed invasion.

  • A powerful contact insecticide.

  • Effective control of Leatherjackets and Frit Fly.

  • Long periods of control.

  • Rainfast - not subject to leaching.

  • Easy-to-use liquid formulation.

Where to use
‘Crossfire’ can be used on amenity grassland and managed amenity turf, including golf
greens, for the control of leatherjackets and frit fly.

When to use
‘Crossfire’ should not be used during periods of frost.

Leatherjackets
‘Crossfire’ can be applied from the beginning of November where high larval
populations are detected or damage is first seen. For best effect keep a look out for
Crane Fly activity throughout the summer and where present monitor the turf in the
autumn for larvae activity and damage. Apply to these areas in November when the
larvae are small and more susceptible. This will reduce the larvae numbers over winter
as well as reducing damage in the spring.
To prevent over-winter feeding resulting in damage becoming visible in the spring,
early treatment is recommended.

Frit Fly
‘Crossfire’ should be applied at emergence, where damage is anticipated or at the first signs of attack.
