BSEN 1177: 2008 Play Sand and Jump Pit Sand - Complies with latest British Standard in play sand.
Play Sand Characteristics:
Non Toxic
Non staining
Low abrasive characteristics
Play Sand is double washed to give the appearance of a tropical Caribbean type sand, popular for activities such as beach sports, parties, photo shoots as well as play areas.
Whether you are creating a play pit at home, a children's area in a school or beach volley ball court for adults, our safety screened play sand will allow you to create an attractive and safe surface.
The impact parameters are pertinent to the equipment manufacturers and installation contractors where the depth of impact attenuating materials correspond to a critical fall height.
Values are given in BS EN 1177 as guideline values - for example a sand depth of 300mm will have a corresponding maximum critical fall height of <3000mm
Quality Guarantee
The batches of play sand are regularly checked by the laboratories to guarantee the highest possible standards both at the quarry and by independent safety laboratories before safety certificates can be issued.
The play sand grain shape is sub-rounded to avoid abrasion. This is very important should the play sand particle get into to the eye as it can be easily washed out. Particle size also plays an important part in the moulding characteristics of the play sand, enhancing its qualities as a play material.
No silt and clay particles
Average grain size 230 microns
Particle size distribution 0.2 -2mm
Coefficient of uniformity = 3 (good uniformity of particle size)
