ATT equipment makes great impression on Rugby School wickets
"Cricket in particular is an important sport for us as we host 1st Class County Cricket fixtures for Warwickshire. When these matches take place, there can be as many as 4,000 people in the ground, so providing top quality surfaces is of prime importance" explains James.
On top of the full spectrum of sports facilities at the school site, James and his team of nine Groundstaff, also maintain a further five squares at five other cricket grounds during the summer. "Our kit has to work very hard and after reading about, and having a demonstration of, the ATT INFiNiSystem™, we felt we we're missing out by not having one. All my team, especially my number 2 in charge, fell in love with it during the demo and so it became a no-brainer that it was the right kit to go for. Since taking delivery at the end of May it has become the go-to piece of machinery and the only kit we use on the 1st team square. We're all extremely pleased with how it's working and I'm sure it won't be the last piece of ATT we will own."
James purchased the 22" INFiNiSystem™, along with the SMARTCut™, SMARTUltraGroomer™ and SMARTPowerBrush™ cassettes from within ATT's Turf Management System™. "The range of tools available make this is a superbly versatile machine. The height of cut on the SMARTCut cassette can be changed easily - we've been setting the square at 12mm and 10mm, and for the wickets anything between 3mm and 7mm. To add the finishing touches to the wicket we use the UltraGroomer and PowerBrush cassettes in conjunction to thin out, reduce any Poa or rogue grasses, combat any lateral growth and get the sward standing upright."
"These cassettes have been exceptional and since we've been using them, all the players and staff have commented on the performance we've achieved with the wickets. The SMARTCut™ and SMARTUltraGroomer™ cassettes have also found homes on the schools grass tennis courts, thinning out and preparing them for play.
