Greenkeepers Revenge: Luxury Wiltshire golf course set to host unconventional round of golf

Swindon Linkin Golf

A PGA golf course nestled on a luxury Wiltshire estate is hosting a unique and disruptive golfing event that will dispute the traditional golf course layout - promising hilarity and challenges with every swing.

Bowood Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort, which sits at the heart of the 2,000-acre Bowood Estate, is offering its members the opportunity to play the 'Greenkeepers Revenge' - a Texas Scramble format that offers a comedic spin on the game of golf.

The course layout, altered by head greenkeeper Jaey Goodchild and his team, features creative twists that will test even Bowood's most seasoned golfers. Last year's alterations included trolleys on the green as obstructions and claxons sounding mid-swing. This year's edition promises new challenges, aiming to make the round of golf the ultimate test of skill and patience.

The event will take place on Sunday 8th September, and participation costs £10 per member, with a hot drink and bacon roll available from 7.30am, before a shotgun start at 9am.

Jaey said: "Last year's event was a lot of fun, so we're excited to bring the Greenkeepers Revenge back again, offering an experience that defies convention and certainly brings a lot of laughter. We've reimagined the course with ingenious twists that will challenge even our most skillful members. It's also a great opportunity for us staff to interact with our golfing community in a more lighthearted environment."

Bowood is also offering an exciting opportunity to play 'Twilight Golf', available from 3.30pm on weekdays and 4.30pm on the weekend, until the end of September. A round of golf and buggy hire costs £50 per person and offers the chance to play against the backdrop of the sun set on the South West's official PGA course.

In addition to its golf offering, the luxury Bowood Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort includes the two AA Rosette Shelburne Restaurant, the luxurious The Spa at Bowood, and principal hotel accommodation.
