In Myerscough we trust
During a recent visit to Manchester City's superb Etihad stadium, Myerscough College National Training Manager Phil Lomas worked alongside the Grounds Team in the build up to the recent FA Cup fixture against Chelsea FC.
On the day the full team were all ex-Myerscough learners having studied a range of academic qualifications ranging from Intermediate and Advanced Apprenticeships through to Foundation Degrees in Sportsturf.

National Training Manager Phil Lomas reflects on the benefits of the Myerscough College model for training delivery, saying; "I worked myself as a Greenkeeper for several years completing several qualifications in the early days of work based training with Myerscough.
Then in 1999 I became the first full time Workbased Assessor and built up a cohort of learners throughout the North West and into Yorkshire.
The highlights for me are witnessing first-hand the progression of learners with their qualifications and within industry. There are too many to mention them all, but many are now notable figures within the turf sector.
Lee Jackson from Manchester City studied Levels 2, 3 and 4 under my tutorage rising from Groundsman at Maine Road to Head Groundsman at the Etihad Stadium, and is regularly acclaimed for the quality playing surface he maintains. He has since also completed a Foundation degree with the college. "
Etihad Stadium Head Groundsman Lee Jackson also reflects on the training at Myerscough College and how this perfectly fits the needs of the workforce, saying; "The training at Myerscough College is flexible and tailored to the specific needs of industry.
Myerscough provide training at all levels and learners are encouraged to progress onto higher programmes.
I for one have experienced the full range, having started with my Level 2 Workbased Diploma and progressing through the levels and achieving my Foundation Degree."
