Head Groundsperson - Hale End

Responsible for the preparation and running of the Emirates Stadium and wider facilities at other locations for all events and functions. Department remit includes property and facilities management, spectator safety at events, wider Health and Safety matters.

JOB PURPOSE


To be fully responsible for the day to day maintenance and general upkeep of Hale End Youth Academy and the management and development of the groundstaff,

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Overall responsibility for the management and the professional development of the grounds staff at Hale End which will include regular team and 1:1 meetings to schedule works and discuss site requirements. Conducting PDR reviews to drive staff's personal development therefore promoting a positive working environment.

Planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating all grounds related work, including natural, hybrid grass, artificial and soft/hard landscape areas.

To prepare, implement and monitor weekly, monthly and annual maintenance schedules to ensure all groundstaff deliver the required standard of playing surfaces and landscaping areas daily.

Cost effective management of all ground's activities to consistently achieve the recognised standards and availability to satisfy both the club and its end users (e.g. coaches, players and parents) including but not limited to - playing surface preparation, chemical applications, management of soft/hard landscaping, irrigation systems, pitch renovations, SGL/SeeGrow lighting units, equipment and plant room management.

Seek to improve and innovate more efficient ways of working and utilising the academy facilities.

Ensure compliance and review the Health and Safety regulations in the area of responsibility. Conduct staff inductions and produce and review risk assessments and safe systems of work for the grounds department within the review date schedule. Develop contingency plans and be able to respond to emergencies. Actively promote safe practices of self and others. Respond to emergencies by using emergency equipment and calling assistance.

Possess a thorough understanding of legislation relating to chemicals and dangerous substances. Promote safe working practices at all times by utilising Ground2Control software and the clubs COSHH management system and ensure awareness of developments within the grounds industry.

Conduct weekly checks on grounds facilities, plant, buildings and equipment to ensure safe working practices and Health and Safety legislation compliance and all documentation must be kept up to date.

Provide effective materials and machinery management to ensure all equipment is correctly stored, maintained and serviced in conjunction with the machinery maintenance contractor. Continually monitor stock levels to ensure enough materials are available for day to day activities.

Manage the efficient use of resources. Gather and record information to develop trend data and analyse past usage. Make recommendations for improving the best use of resources and the academy facility.

Manage and deliver end of season pitch renovations to the required standard ensuring pitches are delivered back within the expected schedule and to the required standards.

Conduct team and 1:1 meeting's with the groundstaff, complete PDR reviews to continue professional development of the staff

To lead, motivate and develop the groundstaff to achieve their targets which are set in their PDR and job description

Manage contractors that are working under the instruction of the grounds department

Ad hoc duties as and when required.

This role requires individuals to work flexibly. There may be some evening and weekend work required.
