JOB TITLE: Assistant Groundsperson (FTC until 31st May 2021)
DEPARTMENT: Operations/Compton Grounds
REPORTS TO: Head Groundsperson
LOCATION: Sir Jack Hayward Training Ground, Compton
HOURS: Full-time 37.5 hours per week including evenings, weekends and match-days.

Job purpose
Wolves are searching for an experienced and motivated individual to take up the position of assistant groundsperson.
Working in a team of grounds staff, the successful applicant will strive to ensure all the pitches at our Compton Training Ground meet the highest possible standard.
The successful applicant will be a team player who takes pride in the quality of their work and attention to detail.

Key responsibilities
- Ensure that the pitches meet the exceptional quality standards required by Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club
- Use pedestrian and ride on mowers on football pitches
- Mark out pitches
- Assist in the renovation of pitches and grass areas
- Clean equipment and wash down areas
- Keep all equipment and materials in good condition
- To maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant industry developments
- Other Ad Hoc duties as and when required

Scope of job
The assistant groundsperson will work within a team to ensure all Compton pitches meet the highest possible standard.
The successful candidate must be a hard worker and willing to get involved with any other duties within the remit of the grounds department. Must also be flexible with their working hours during peak periods, and the successful applicant may be required to work on home matchdays.

Job Title: Groundsperson
Knowledge: the level and breadth of knowledge to do the job e.g. understanding of a defined system, method or procedure, legal or regulatory frameworks etc
Desirable
- Experience of working with football pitches at a professional level
Technical/work-based skills: skills specific to the job e.g. language competence, typing skills, coaching skills etc

- Previous experience of working of using a wide range of turf care equipment

- Manual Handling Techniques and Awareness Training

Experience: proven record of experience in a particular field, profession or specialism.

- Proven track record for at least 2 years as an experienced Grounds Person
Desirable
- Experience working with a Synthetic Sports Training Facility
- 2 years minimum experience within sports turf or horticulture background
Qualifications: the level of educational, professional and/or occupational training required
Essential
- Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma or other recognised equivalent qualification in Horticulture and/or Turf Surface Management/Maintenance or qualified by relevant experience
Desirable
- Spraying Certificates PA1, 2 and 6
