1 week until #GroundsWeek – get ready to be involved

GMAin Association News

With just one week until the return of #GroundsWeek (20 - 26 March), it's time to start planning how you can take part and help encourage others to consider a career in grounds management.

Collaboration is key to #GroundsWeek and we need your help to spread the positive messages. This year, we're theming our activity around education and how it ties into careers in grounds management. With outreach to media outlets across the country, and 2 events planned for the week, our activity focuses on why grounds management is a viable career path, whilst showcasing the skills and knowledge involved in it, to help inspire the next generation of talent to join the sector.

Our plans include:

  • News stories: we're working hard to help educate and inform journalists about the importance of grounds management ahead of, and during, the week
  • Online engagement: it's great to see so many clubs developing content and our members planning videos or blogs to help communicate why they love doing what they do. Follow us on social media to stay informed
  • Events: we're hosting two events over #GroundsWeek which will help set the standards for natural turf sports surfaces and introduce young people to careers in the sector. We'll be sharing highlights from both events across social media

How you can get involved

We're asking you, and the rest of the grounds-care community, to share details about the rewarding aspects of your work and what you love about working in the grounds-care industry. As well as engaging with the GMA's content throughout #GroundsWeek, you could share:

  • A photo of you and / or your colleagues at work
  • A photo of your ground / pitch (either current or past work you're really proud of)
  • A short video of you or your grounds colleagues talking about how you got into the industry/ help out in your spare time
  • Getting a player or member of the coaching staff to try their hand at preparing the pitch for a short video

You can find a selection of campaign graphics and social posts you can share over the week in our #GroundsWeek 2023 Supporter Toolkit.

Whatever it is you do, whether it's writing a blog, sharing a photo, or uploading a video, make sure to tag the GMA and use the #GroundsWeek hashtag. To make sure you don't miss out, make sure you are following the GMA on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
