Abergele Golf Club, in North Wales, has taken advantage of a flexible finance offer from Lely UK in a deal that's seen the coastal course benefit from two new mowers.

Investing £80,000 while drawing on a buy-now-pay-later finance scheme, the club has worked with UK Toro distributor Lely and local Toro dealer Major Owen to bring in the all new Toro Greensmaster Triflex Hybrid 3420 and a Toro Reelmaster 5610-D with cab.

Replacing older models, Abergele's course manager and master greenkeeper Darren Anderson says the easy-payment plan allows the club to upgrade machines without compromising cash flow.

"We opted to take advantage of Lely's flexible finance offer, which allows us greater financial flexibility and enables us to get the new machines we need now as we edge close to the height of the season."

With the magnificent backdrop of Gwrych Castle, Abergele's 18-hole parkland course is widely regarded as one of Wales' most reputable and picturesque courses. This reputation, says Darren, is maintained by ensuring enhancements are made at every opportunity; a point highlighted by the club's recent Toro upgrades.

"With our USGA greens, we strive to be one of the best courses in Wales, which means we need the best equipment. Toro are the best; they have a sturdy build quality, are reliable and have a high quality finish. I also like the way they hold their value," says Darren.

"I've been here for 23 years and we've always had Toro - we wouldn't use anything else."

Particularly impressed with the hybrid system on the new Greensmaster TriFlex 3420 riding greensmower, Darren adds: "The new hybrid mower is great. We really like the new way the cutting units handle contours and undulations of the green and find we're getting a better quality of cut and after-cut appearance because of that. The cutting units are also easily accessed and adjusted, saving time for the operators., along with reduced grease points with the introduction of sealed bearings."

Happy with his two new Toro mowers, Darren says he's now looking to expand the club's fleet further, and has just placed an order for a new Toro Workman HDX 4WD utility vehicle.
