Buckinghamshire based sports ground specialists Agripower Contractors have recently completed the installation of the first iDNA football pitch by Desso Sports Systems.
The previous sports facilities at Bradley Road in Grimsby were a single playing field with derelict old changing rooms which were boarded up. The new site now boasts facilities which will be envied by any league side, including an irrigated, floodlit full size natural Premier pitch with seating, one full size Desso iDNA fully floodlit 3G synthetic pitch to both Football Association and Football Foundation specifications, three full size natural training pitches which have been drained and sand ameliorated, attenuation for pavilion, car parks and all pitch works, site secure fencing systems for the whole area, turnstiles and stands.
The decision to install Desso's iDNA pitch was made after the facility management team wanted a surface to play football on throughout the year and able to withstand heavy use so that training and matches could be played in the same place under the same conditions.
The Bradley Road project, worth over £1.3million was part-funded by North East Lincolnshire Council, Football Association and the Football Foundation.
Agripower were awarded the contract in late August 2009 with work starting in early September. The project was finished ahead of schedule largely due to the company's in-house resources of equipment and manpower.
"It's been a pleasure working with Agripower," commented Alex Stead, Sales Manager for Desso. "All parties involved on this prestigious project worked tirelessly to get the project finished on time. Desso iDNA is the culmination of many years' research and development and to get a show piece facility like this is fantastic".
