Allett targets sportsgrounds sector with upgraded C-34

Allett Mowers is to launch an upgraded version of its C-34 pedestrian cylinder mower at Saltex.

Among the changes to the machine are improvements to cutting unit visibility, weight distribution and manoeuvrability, all designed to extend the C-34's appeal among professionals engaged in sportsground and pitch maintenance.

In addition to its capabilities as a six- or eight-bladed precision mower, the C-34 can be equipped with quickly-interchangeable cartridge heads suitable for scarifying, verticutting or rotary brushing, making the machine a highly versatile, cost-effective turf maintenance tool for budget-conscious owners and operators across the public and private sectors.

The most obvious change over its predecessor is the re-positioning of the C-34's Honda GX200 engine to a central position, a move designed to improve both weight distribution and machine balance. Further weight enhancements have been achieved by the introduction of a new, lighter grass collector with redesigned mountings making box removal and replacement both easier and faster.

In response to user requests, Allett engineers have improved visibility of the mower's front roller in work by reducing the height and altering the angle of the stainless steel guard enclosing the shaft supplying drive to the cutting cylinder and rubber-covered rear roller.

These changes have been complemented by a 56 per cent increase in the diameter of the front roller to 89mm and a reduction in the height of the curved throw plate immediately behind the cutting cylinder, both measures helping improve visibility of the cutting unit when mowing. As a bonus, the alteration to the throw plate has enhanced delivery of grass into the collector.

To minimise the risk of clumps of damp grass being dropped onto fine turf when mowing, a scraper is now fitted as standard to the C-34's front roller.

Finally, the adoption of wider handlebars has greatly improved manoeuvrability and turning at the end of a run, making the machine easier and more comfortable to use over extended periods.

Available for demonstrations on pitches and sportsgrounds nation-wide following IOG SALTEX, the new, improved C-34 complete with eight-bladed cutting unit is priced at £6,148.00 (excl. VAT). Additional alternative cartridge heads can be specified at any time and a trailing seat is available as an option.
