0 Articulated rotary mower maintains semi-rough at golfing society

Royal B 132The Royal Burgess Golfing Society of Edinburgh, the oldest golfing society in the world, established in 1735, and one of only 10 'Royal' golf clubs in Scotland, is using a Jacobsen AR522 articulated rotary mower for maintaining the semi-rough on its magnificent 18-hole course, regarded as one of the finest examples of a parkland course in the UK.

Purchased from Ransomes Jacobsen's local dealer, Fairways GM, the 59 hp rotary mower offers the best power to width-of-cut ratio in its class and its TrimTek decks, which keep the grass clippings suspended longer, provide exceptional mulching results and a superior after-cut appearance.

Chris Yeaman has been Course Manager at Royal Burgess for just over four years and heads a team of six dedicated greenkeeping staff and a full time mechanic.

He's highly experienced with 37 years in the industry having worked at West Linton Golf Club in the Scottish Borders, Magdalene Fields Golf Club in Berwick-on-Tweed and Turnhouse Golf Club to the west of Edinburgh.

"The AR522 is an absolutely fantastic mower," he said, "its power is incredible and the quality of cut is superb. We tried competitor machines during the procurement process, but this mower stood out from the pack. The change in playing condition of the semi has been really Royal B 128noticeable and has been commented upon by members.

"We are hosting Jacobsen's version of the Ryder Cup in September, when teams including staff and customers of Jacobsen in the USA and of Ransomes Jacobsen from Ipswich compete here for the trophy currently held by Jacobsen. The course will be in pristine condition for this event, no doubt ably assisted by the AR522."
