Carlisle Train Station now has a permanent grassed seating area inside the station courtesy of Maryport company Artificial Grass Ltd.

Artificial Grass Ltd originally supplied the grass for a World Cup event in the summer of 2014, but Station Manager Mark Green was so impressed with the feature he decided to make it a permanent facility:

'In the summer, Retail Customer Service Assistant Liam Edmondson organised a World Cup themed weekend. We had Brazilian food, Salsa dancing, football demonstrations and live music among many other fantastic activities. When the event was over we quickly realised that the customers loved it and began using it as waiting area throughout the rest of the summer. It is quirky and exactly the kind of station improvement Virgin Trains customers appreciate! It's as if we have brought a little outdoors indoors!'

The area, which is situated on one of the busiest platforms in the station, has seating and a small white picket fence surrounding it so looks and feels like a real garden. It will be used for various events throughout the year, and gives the station a new seating area for customers.

Phil Nichols, Manufacturing Director at Artificial Grass Ltd commented:'

We are delighted to have worked with Virgin Trains at Carlisle Station on this new event space. We hope that public enjoy this new relaxation area, and see the benefits of having their own gardens improved with our Artificial Grass.'

Artificial Grass Ltd is the oldest artificial grass factory in Britain and the only UK synthetic grass manufacturer selling direct to the domestic and landscaping sectors.

Free samples of their grass can be ordered from their website to try before you buy, and lots of information is online to help the customer in making the decision on which of their products to choose.
