BCPC has just launched its newly designed UK Pesticide Guide Online (plantprotection.co.uk) to provide an even better resource for users. This essential, comprehensive, searchable database is unique in providing information on over 1,300 pesticides and adjuvants for agricultural, horticultural, forestry, amenity and pest control use in the UK.

"Plantprotection.co.uk provides you with essential pesticide information at your fingertips," advises Martin Lainsbury, editor of BCPC's The UK Pesticide Guide. "Users can access product, adjuvant and supplier factsheets, search for control measures against specific diseases in chosen crops and access an up-to-date list of SOLAs (now known as Extensions of Authorisation for Minor Uses). There are quick links to the relevant documents on the Chemicals Regulation Directorate (CRD) web site - in fact everything you need to become a Master of the Pesticide Universe."

Responding to user feedback the redesigned site has a much clearer layout, fresh design and simplified navigational options making it much more user-friendly. The searches done by users in the past have been analysed and the database designed to offer exactly what subscribers need in their search for the right pesticide for the job. In addition users have the opportunity to make more complex searches via the Classic Search facility, e.g. for finding products that control more than one disease in a crop such as both powdery mildew and Rhychosporium in barley.

One big advantage over The UK Pesticide Guide 2012 book is that being on-line regular updates will be made to the content throughout the year ensuring users have the most up-to-date pesticide information to hand.

A new subscription engine has also been developed which means that new and renewing customers can find the experience of subscribing to plantprotection.co.uk much easier than before. 12 months subscription to plantprotection.co.uk, which is jointly marketed by BCPC and CABI, is just £60 + VAT. As a bonus, BASIS members who subscribe to plantprotection.co.uk can gain 3 CPD points with their purchase and NFU, UFU and AICC members can benefit from a discount in their subscription. And all subscribers will have free access to BCPC's Identipest pictorial diagnostic tool identifying pests, weeds and diseases in 34 UK field crops.
