Beaumont Grounds Maintenance has been seeing an increase in artificial surfaces, in particular with schools. This has led to them expanding their machinery fleet with a Redexim Verti-Top 1200 from Charterhouse Turf Machinery.

Established by his Grandfather in 1965, current Managing Director Alex Lineton is the 3rd generation of the family to run the company that provides grounds and sports pitch maintenance to commercial organisations across the North East and Yorkshire regions.

"There was an increasing necessity for us to get into artificial maintenance," explains Alex, "and as education and awareness in the topic improves we can only see the demand for the service growing. In addition, people are starting to understand that to protect their investment, they need to conduct maintenance. This, and the FA guidelines on 3G maintenance, has really justified our purchase of the Verti-Top in February."

The Verti-Top uses a rotary brush to lift the pile and extract up to the top 15mm of infill and foreign material. The infill is then sieved to remove dust and detritus before being returned and brushed into the surface leaving a clean, level and aesthetically pleasing finish.

Alex again, "Dougie Archibald, Northern Territory Manager for Charterhouse, did a demo last year and, after weighing the Verti-Top up against its competitors at Saltex, we decided it was the right machine for us. We did our research and spoke to some other contractors and in the end it was a straight forward decision. When Dougie came to do the demo it looked very easy to set up and operate and often, when you try it yourself it's not that easy but this really is! With the 3 point linkage and PTO drive it's easy to hook up and when running it's worked as well as it did during its demonstration."

"Charterhouse have a great reputation in the industry, as one of the first to supply synthetic maintenance machinery, and since our purchase their after sales support has been faultless. It was important for us that we got the kit, the experience, and established ourselves in the synthetic market ready for when it booms. The Verti-Top has been a great addition to our service offering."

Alex and a supervisor are currently training an apprentice on it, with the aim of creating a dedicated synthetic team when the need arrives.

Currently, 5 sites have signed up for a quarterly deep clean and Alex is delighted with the results the Redexim Verti-Top is delivering.
