Daniel Lightfoot.jpgBIGGA's 49th Master Greenkeeper is Daniel Lightfoot, from Bearwood Lakes Golf Club, in Berkshire.

Dan started his career in greenkeeping in 1994 at Hertfordshire Golf & Country Club as a Trainee and worked his way up to Deputy Superintendent before moving to Gatton Manor as Deputy Course Manager and then Course Manager. Following a stint as a greenkeeping lecturer at Merrist Wood College Dan returned to the golf course as the Course Manager at Bearwood Lakes.

Dan joined the scheme and completed Stage One in late 2007. He completed his Stage Two Golf Course Inspection in September 2008 and successfully completed Stage Three, the Examinations in October 2008.

To attain Master Greenkeeper status greenkeepers have to accumulate credits, for education and training plus experience. They then have to pass a rigorous inspection of their golf course before studying to pass the very testing two-part examination.

The first Master Greenkeeper Certificate was awarded in 1991. Since that time we have awarded 48 Master Greenkeepers Certificates and today we will be awarding one more. Master Greenkeepers can be found all over of the world.
