The Trojans began training on the club's new 3G pitch for the first time this week as renovation work to their Inkersall Road ground nears completion.

The new 3G pitch at Staveley.

"To get the facility and to have training sessions at the times you want is great," said Marshall.

"The lads loved it. It's just nice to get back together. It's been difficult to find training facilities."

"Traditionally when the weather is like it is now the groundsman manage as best, they can to make the best pitch."

"Then you want somewhere to train, facilities are limited wherever you are and then the groundsman is at you because you want to train on the pitch."

"Now it looks the same in February as it does in June so it's a great feeling to train on our facility."

The new pitch is up to FIFA Quality Pro standard and will see Staveley's 24 teams from U6 up to senior level train and play on the surface.

The NCEL side were awarded grants from the Premier League, The FA and the Football Foundation, to install the new state-of-the-art floodlit pitch as well as new pitch-side fencing, drainage and car facilities.

Community groups will also be able to hire the pitch.

The facility will be run by a non-profit making company with any surplus made being fed back into the community.
