Brett Vale Golf Club, in the heart of Dedham Vale, Suffolk, has added a TYM T293 to its fleet, marking part of a substantial investment with turfcare specialists Lely - the UK's sole distributors of TYM tractors and Toro turf maintenance equipment.

Having made considerable improvements to the greens and fairways since Chris Waters bought the club in 2007, Brett Vale has now taken the club to the next step with a £250k machinery investment, which alongside the new tractor, includes Toro's latest hybrid Greensmaster 3420-D riding mowers.

As with the club's new mowers, the compact T293 - the latest and most powerful of TYM's under 30-horsepower class - has been put to good use on the 5,877 yard 18-hole course since it arrived on site.

Course manager Clive Pinnion, who's been with the privately-owned club for 23 years, says both he and his greenkeeping team are really pleased with TYM's multiple uses and capabilities.

"There are four guys in our greenkeeping team here and they all like the new tractor. They were also involved in the trials when we looked at other brands and preferred the TYM at that point too.

"For a little, compact tractor, it's very powerful. It's also easy to use and service. Since we've had it on board, it's proved very useful for many jobs around the club, from slitting and landscaping, to top dressing and loading sand to fill our bunkers," he says.

Powered by a Mitsubishi S3L2 three-cylinder engine, the 293 HST boasts features including a roomy operator area and oversized tyres, with optional turf tyres for minimal turf damage and a soft ride.

"We decided to opt for the turf tyres," adds Clive. "This means the tractor doesn't leave tyre marks on the course, which is really important in maintaining turf quality."

Since Brett Vale Golf Club was taken over by Chris and Lindsey, its reputation has grown from strength to strength; a point demonstrated both by its latest investment and ever growing active membership.
