golfBritish Seed Houses' stand at BTME (A29) will offer the latest products and information for Greenkeepers looking to produce top quality fine turf in 2012.

If you are maintaining fescues then the latest varieties from British Seed Houses, AberCharm and Borluna, should be one of your reasons to visit this year's show.

AberCharm has been UK-bred for UK conditions. It boasts excellent shoot density and unrivalled summer and winter greenness, offering Greenkeepers the opportunity to improve the look of their greens all year round.

Borluna offers every characteristic that is important to create a true putting surface: high shoot density, exceptionally fine leaf and a high disease resistance. In addition it demonstrates exceptional resistance to drought conditions.

British Seed Houses is renowned for giving turf professionals all the information they need to select the best varieties for their needs. The latest catalogue has a new dedicated section on bentgrasses, featuring the TYEE & 007 'Superbents'.

Proving a big success since its introduction in 2010, 007 offers superior turf quality, eliminates winter stress discolouration and is highly competitive against Poa annua. Bred from parent plants selected for their ability to withstand stress, 007 has the characteristics to cope with demanding golf course applications.

TYEE is derived from grasses proven to thrive under heat and stress, ideal for unpredictable climates. TYEE possesses a bright, dark true green colour for excellent appearance both in summer and in winter, and the uniform colour provides an appealing contrast with other grasses in the fairway. It also offers extra density which helps to keep Poa annua at bay for superior putting greens.

Both varieties have made a strong impression on leading course managers, and their qualities will be in the spotlight on the US Open course at the Olympic Club in San Francisco and at the Medinah Country Club, Chicago, the Ryder Cup venue for 2012.

Seminars by British Seed Houses are always an eagerly awaited part of the Harrogate educational programme and this year's session will provide invaluable information on beneficial bacteria. Taking place on Tuesday 24 January 2012 at 11.00 am - 11.30 am the seminar offers an insight into the fundamental relationship between Rhizosphere bacterium and plant growth.

Dr Fritz Lord, Product Management/R&D Turf Fertilizer COMPO Expert will explore why a vigorous population is so important for healthy turfgrass, explain how to maximise populations, and looks at the main benefits of doing so. Most importantly he will explain why some strains are more effective than some others, and address the technology and research behind the market leading products.

British Seed Houses will be launching a Twitter account where amenity professionals can stay informed with the latest news, innovations and ideas to improve the performance of golf courses, sports pitches or landscaping projects. Visitors can sign up to follow BSH at the show for the opportunity to win prizes every day.
