British Seed Houses has helped Fields In Trust, formerly the National Playing Fields Association, remind its members of the fun that can be had on grass by contributing top-quality seed for its latest membership campaign.
The UK's largest seed producer supplied a quantity of its premium A20 Ryesport seed mixture to the organisation which exists to acquire, safeguard and improve the nation's playing fields.
The seed was repackaged and sent to over 130 individual members with their renewal forms and to new members with their welcome pack. The label encourages the recipient to grow their own mini playing field in a tray, before adding some mini goal posts to complete the perfect sports pitch!
Fields In Trust protects 1,200 sites which serves an estimated 1.4 million people for active sport and play. The funding it receives from members protects fields from being built upon, pays for improvements such as play equipment, technical advice, pavilions and sports facilities. FIT also provides expert advice to communities whose fields are under threat.
Director of Fundraising, Elspeth Gilfillan explains how vital the campaigns are to the future of the association: "Every week, communities across the UK are losing their playing fields, and it is vitally important to us to have the influence necessary to lobby and campaign effectively for their protection, both at a local and national level. Increased membership shows popular support for our cause and ensures that we are listened to."
BSH's Amenity Director Simon Taylor added: "The protection of playing fields in our communities is crucial for the future of recreation and grass roots sport. British Seed Houses applauds the work that Fields In Trust is doing to preserve grassed areas and we were more than happy to support its membership campaign."
