Calderdale Council Compost Open Day

Mark Dempseyin Industry News

Calderdale MBC'S Safer, Cleaner, Greener Section (previously Parks & Streetscene), are planning a free Compost Awareness Day on Wednesday 25th August 2010. The aims of the event are:

• To identify the benefits of recycling street cleaning and green waste streams
• To show how compost can be used effectively
• To discuss how to engage local communities and raise recycling awareness
• To discuss regulations relative to compost production/distribution

With leaf fall not too far away it is timely to raise awareness of the benefits and pitfalls of processing street cleaning and green waste materials.

The event will be a mixture of presentations and demonstrations based at our Lock Hill Depot, Holmes Road, Sowerby Bridge, HX6 2AA which is adjacent to Sowerby Bridge Railway Station and a short drive from the M62.

If you are interested in attending this event please e-mail elsie.berry@calderdale.gov.uk to register and we will get back to you to confirm your place and provide further information.
