Campey machinery making a difference in Jersey

Campey Turf Care has recently delivered a fleet of grounds care machinery to the Transport and Technical Service Department of The States of Jersey.

Four members of the department, which is responsible for the islands sports playing fields, arranged to visit the Campey head office in Macclesfield last October to look at the latest equipment and see some live local demonstrations.

"We were very impressed with everything" Assistant Manager, Ian Syvret said "Not just the machinery, but the company too. They gave us the opportunity to visit some local users who were already experienced with the equipment and the recommendations were invaluable."

Ian and fellow Assistant Manager Bob Kearsey are in charge of budgets for the department and are continually looking at ways to balance the cost against return. By improving the maintenance regime, they hope to reduce long term maintenance costs and radically improve the playability of the current sports pitch facilities.

"As we are a public service our priority is to find machinery that would help us to keep costs down and standards high. Our sports facilities are in demand all year round so with the right equipment such as the Imants Shockwave, which leaves so little surface disturbance, we can aerate and improve overall drainage without long periods of down time. It also gives us flexibility to carry out work as and when we want to, which is essential when planning maintenance schedules.

"We are also looking at ways to improve the general quality of the sports pitches, and so reduce the cost of maintaining them in the future." explained Ian "The Koro Speed Harrows, Dakota top dresser and Vredo overseeders will allow us to renovate some surfaces in a short closed period when changing from winter to summer use."

The Koro Recycling Dresser is going to be used on a few selected pitches which will be closed for several months while some intense renovation work is being carried out."

Richard Campey, Managing Director of Campey Turf Care Systems knows that the combination of equipment supplied to Jersey will have a huge and positive impact on the sports activities over there.

"By taking a few radical steps, you can ensure the standard of pitch surface will be healthy, playable and easy to maintain for years to come." Said Richard "Our machines have a proven track record for delivering results in a short space of time, with long term benefits."
