Cardigan combat their conditions with Lebanon Proscape and Premier Hydrate
Robert Clarke is the man charged with its management and, until recently, struggled to maintain a strong grass coverage on fairways in particular. However, following discussions with Ray Hunt, Technical Sales Manager with ALS, Robert embarked on a rigorous cultural programme, including aeration, lightweight fairway mowing, regular divoting and overseeding, with Robert definitely witnessing improvements. This cultural work was combined with regular applications of two ALS products, Lebanon ProScape 12-6-24 fertiliser containing Expo® slow release potassium, and the wetting agent Premier Hydrate.
As Robert says "The results have been outstanding and there for all to see". The slow release Lebanon ProScape has without doubt delivered a consistent release of nitrogen over a three month period, as well as extended potassium availability through the 33% Expo® content, which has proved very beneficial to the general health of our fairways".
Robert continued "We can suffer from drying winds and regularly miss rainfall that others locally may receive, so our fairways can be under water stress throughout the growing season.
To combat this we also decided to use Premier Hydrate wetting agent in combination with the Lebanon fertiliser. The Premier Hydrate wetting agent has definitely improved water penetration on the fairways, particularly on problematic areas such as high spots. As a result, we have seen grass growth strengthen and recover more quickly from dry spells of weather.
"We applied the Lebanon ProScape twice, the first application last autumn following our renovations and again this spring, along with Premier Hydrate wetting agent. I believe this combination of products aided recovery following summer stresses of dry spells, traffic and the exposed location".
