Contractor Chappelow Sports Turf has further extended its capability to deliver construction, drainage and maintenance services across sport, leisure and amenity by expanding its fleet of high-performance tractors.

Two John Deere 6125R models are the latest additions to the lineup, which spans compact units to some of the most powerful the manufacturer produces.

The acquisitions follow burgeoning demand for increasingly important improvements to sports pitches and golf courses, which help grounds and greens teams raise performance standards and minimise closures and fixture cancellations due to bad weather.

"We stay true to John Deere because of their reliability," said Ben Chappelow, who runs the business with his brother, Edward, and dad Alan. "There have been few if any problems with the fleet, having bought our first tractor more than a decade ago.

"The service is great from Ripon Farm Services, our local John Deere dealer," added Chappelow. "They provide strong backup and can deliver spares usually the day after we order them."

Chris Doyle, Ripon's Service Manager, added: "As well as supplying models for sport and amenity, the dealership runs a thriving agricultural division but stressed: "Our longstanding relationship with Chappelow Sports Turf is proof of the rising requirement for the turf care services that their expanding fleet of tractors allows them to provide across the board."

Chappelow is just a "stone's-throw" from its goal of running a tractor fleet that will give the contractor full rein to provide services for sites as diverse as a single football pitch or local cricket field to the largest sports stadia and golf complexes. "We're nearly there," Ben Chappelow said, "and shortly expect to close another deal with Ripon to give us complete capability."
