All-round range from Charterhouse at BTME 2004
By Sue Meeken
Charterhouse Turf Machinery will show a complete range of equipment at BTME 2004 (Stand B33) that between them can handle all the essential turf care tasks. On display will be aerators, top-dressers, seeders, versatile tractors and an all-purpose implement carrier, amongst other items.
A new version of the Charterhouse Overseeder will be on view, designed for fast, effective seeding on fairways. The unit has seed drills that are more closely spaced at 3in (75mm) intervals rather than 4in (100mm) for better coverage, and since it can operate at speeds up to 9mph, maximum efficiency can be achieved. Seed is buried up to ¾in (20mm) deep in the ground for protection against the wind and from birds.
The versatile Rondo utility machine will be displayed with a new cab design and a flail mower attachment. The slim, 1m-wide diesel-powered unit can accept dedicated implements for mowing with grass collection, sweeping, gritting, snow clearance and litter removal. Permanent 4-wheel drive gives excellent traction, and an articulating chassis gives a 70cm turning radius.
Carraro tractors will also be featured at BTME. Featuring compact dimensions and powerful performance, the units offer the ability to attach a variety of implements at front and rear, and to switch operation between them quickly. Carraro's RevGuide system allows the operator to completely reverse the position of the steering wheel, dashboard and seat, effectively providing two machines in one.
Charterhouse will highlight the Rink range of top-dressers, available in working widths from 1.5m-2m (59-78in). The line-up encompasses tractor-driven units and special versions that are tailored to fit popular work vehicles made by John Deere, Toro, Jacobsen and Cushman.
Charterhouse will show the renowned Verti-Drain range of deep turf aerators, which have become a generic term in compaction relief. Units drive solid or hollow tines down to a maximum depth of 16in (400mm), introducing air into the soil and stimulating grass growth. A patented parallelogram configuration provides a 'heave' effect as the tines leave the ground, breaking up compacted ground.
"Greenkeepers and other turf professional will find that one visit to our stand will solve virtually all their turf care problems", says Philip Threadgold, Managing Director of Charterhouse Turf Machinery.
