0 Club cricket: Celebrations at Elvaston

When John Lindsay cut the ribbon to open Elvaston Cricket Club's second ground, his delight was tempered by a certain trepidation.

As groundsman and president of the club, he had to hope that the brand new wicket, next to the club's long-standing ground inside Elvaston Castle Country Park, would not prove embarrassing.

In the event, he need not have worried. The club's third team had first use of the strip against Barton seconds in a Division 6S fixture and racked up a remarkable 330-7, Mark Archer finishing unbeaten on 133.
