Alison Britton, representing Salisbury-based publishing company Nelson Communications (publishers of Turf Professional), has wonAliBritton.jpg

Competing in the finals of the national competition, televised by Sky Sports and played over 36 holes at the La Manga Golf Club in Spain on Thursday 4th and Friday 5th December, Alison tied in first place with two other competitors on 57 points, but won the title outright on count-back.

A member of the Rushmore Golf Club near Sixpenny Handley, Alison plays off a handicap of 16, and qualified for the finals after competing in the Nelson Communications Golf Day at Rushmore on 1 July. Her score that day put her on the leader board for a place in the inaugural Women's Corporate Challenge comprising the 20 leading women players in The Times sponsored event, which this year attracted 100,000 competitors.

Alison was accompanied to Spain by husband Peter, sales manager for Nelson Communications, a business-to-business publishing company. Peter, also a member of Rushmore Golf Club, was able to play practice rounds with Ali ahead of the main competition and in the competition arranged for sponsors and guests.

Chris Biddle, MD of Nelson Communications said "We are very proud of Ali's achievement. The competition attracted entries from most of the leading blue-chip companies in the UK, so it is particularly satisfying that Ali now has her name on the inaugural trophy for the Women's Golf Challenge"

As part of her prize, Alison and Peter have been invited to the World Corporate Finals to be staged in Mauritius next June.
