Construction work on a new indoor golf facility for Rutherglen and Cambuslang has finally teed off.

Approximately 300 full and part-time jobs will be created by the new Topgolf facility -which will be the first opened by the leisure operator in Scotland.

Steven McGarva, the development director for site owners Ashfield Land, has led the strategic assembly of the Two 74 site on Cambuslang Road and is overseeing its build out.

He said: "We've been working hard to bring Topgolf to Two 74 for some time now, so it's fantastic to break ground and begin construction on site.

"We are seeing a rise in demand for experience-led leisure activities like Topgolf and are confident it will be extremely popular with the people of Glasgow plus a great addition to Clyde Gateway."

The facility is expected to be completed by next spring.

Topgolf is a state-of-the-art, multi-level golf entertainment complex.

It will allow golfers to practice their swing from climate controlled hitting bays 27 feet in the air.

The venue will also feature gaming areas and a restaurant.

Topgolf currently operates 54 venues across the US, with a further four across the world.

Two 74 lies at Junction 2 of the M74 and is part of the Clyde Gateway regeneration programme.
