Coventry City survive the big chill

Press Releasein Football

The staff behind the scenes at the Ricoh Arena ensured that Coventry's Championship clash with Barnsley survived the big freeze.

And a lukewarm performance on the pitch gave the Sky Blues their third straight home win that eased any relegation worries the club had a month ago.

Chris Coleman was probably regretting the fact that staff had worked through the night to get the game on when his side made a sloppy start to the match and could have been two down in the first five minutes. But two goals in four minutes from Freddy Eastwood and Sammy Clingan handed Coventry the advantage going in at half-time.

Further poor defending allowed Jon Macken to pull a goal back for Barnsley at the start of the second half and Mark Robins' team had further chances to draw level.
