0 Cricket club visitors not for moo-ving

cowTWO unwanted guests are causing a stink at Moorside Cricket Club and are as stubborn as a couple of cautious batsmen.

A bull and a highland heifer wandered on to the ground on Sunday night and have taken up residence.

They are thought to have strayed from a neighbouring farm - and have left the groundsman a real headache. The pitch is now covered in cow pats - but more worryingly the grass is being ruined and will take weeks of work to repair.

Club chairman Tom Boyle said: "It's not really the cow pats, it's the damage being caused. The longer they're here, the longer it will take to repair.

"It's not very nice having the cow muck everywhere. We have to clean this up but we obviously can't do anything until they move on - which doesn't look like any time soon."

The club has spoken to local farmers but have so far been unable to track down who the bull and cow belong to.
