Heaton Sports Club (2).jpgThe proven reliability and excellent finish achieved by his existing Dennis mower made the company's machines the obvious choice when Nick James, head Groundsman at the Heatons Sports Club, was able to invest in a new mower for his cricket square.

Nick is kept busy looking after the turf at the Cheshire club, where he has been based for six years, preparing surfaces for tennis, lacrosse, cricket and rugby.

Nick explains. "I have a 20 year-old Dennis Premier which we have owned for 10 years and it has shown me how reliable the brand is. I have been really impressed with the quality of its cut and balance and also its construction".

Last year the English Cricket Board (ECB) provided the Heatons Sports Club with a grant to cover the cost of a specialist mower for the cricket square, part of a national drive by the ECB to increase participation in the sport.

Producing a top quality playing surface is vital as members of the Heatons Sports Club play cricket to a very high standard, Nick explains. "Many of the members play cricket for the county, and it is a high profile sports club in Cheshire.

"However, is not just a sports club," he adds "Many local schools also use the facilities and there is a strong community focus, with an emphasis on encouraging youth participation."

Nick chose the Dennis Sport, with it's 22" cutting width and 11 blade cylinder, solely to maintain the cricket square.

"A cricket square requires a short and accurate cut and the Sport is ideal for this type of fine turf," he comments. "Its strengths are the user friendly controls and easy height of cut 'click' adjustment - cut heights can be set at increments of 0.5mm. The Sport gives a great cut and leaves an impressive finish."

He purchased the mower via Campey Turfcare and says that he received great service. "Campey came and demonstrated the Sport and allowed me to keep it for a couple of days to get a real feel for its capabilities. I did trial mowers from other manufacturers but decided on the Dennis Sport.

"I felt that Dennis offered the latest technology and a better level of customer service. I am particularly impressed by the personal service I have received and can continue to expect from Dennis and Campey Turfcare."

"I would definitely recommend Dennis, they are a great British manufacturer dedicated to their customer and the machines are a real pleasure to use."
