Razor Ultra 560a.jpgTaking a prominent position on the Dennis stand at this years BTME show was the new Razor Ultra 560 mower. The newest addition to Dennis's range of professional grounds maintenance equipment, the Razor's development was fine tuned using feedback from greenkeepers and groundsmen after it was previewed at the 2009 event. The mower has been designed for a high quality cut on greens and tees with its eleven-blade dedicated cutting cylinder offering a 560mm (22in) cut width.

For ease of operation, the heavy duty independent cutter and roller clutches provide a smooth take up on the drive, while the ultra short wheel base offers great manoeuvrability on undulating greens and a two-section cast aluminium rear roller with steel geared differential makes light work of tight turns.

The Razor Ultra 560's tungsten tipped groomer 'stands proud' lateral grasses prior to the cutting blades to ensure the desired speed of the playing surface is maintained and gives a fine finish; a Weile roller is fitted as standard to further enhance the appearance of the green or tee.

For increased durability the Razor Ultra 560 has high impact resistant acrylic guards, and offering extra user protection, the stub shafts have been designed within the side guards as the mower features a quick release powered transport wheel kit with kick stand.

As ever the operator is high on Dennis's list of priorities, with easy adjustment of cut height using the 'click adjust' system, while the proven easy start Honda Q9 engine offers low noise, low vibration technology.

The Razor Ultra 560 is an extremely versatile mower and will provide a top quality finish on a variety of surfaces and will be of particular interest to groundsmen and greenkeepers maintaining golf greens & tees, cricket pitches or bowling greens to a high standard.

Renovation double act with S500

Combining aeration and overseeding operations, the S500 Plus is the latest in a long line of innovative multi-purpose maintenance tools from Dennis. Designed for golf, bowls and cricket surfaces, the 50cm (20in) working width spiker/slotter features interchangeable heads which can be changed over in approximately 60 seconds using the simple reel lock mechanism.

With the spiker reel fitted, the S500 Plus aerates the turf, punching through the surface pan allowing air, water and fertiliser to penetrate the root zone for healthier turf. The 3mm by 20mm wide slots make this a highly effective operation - giving 50sqm of holes on an average bowling green.

Changing to the slotter head will create ideal seed germination pockets. The optional ground driven seed box attachment takes advantage of this, dropping seed into the ground at the prescribed rate. Brushing the seed into the holes allows mowing and play to continue without compromising germination.

An average size green can be spiked and seeded in just 90 minutes. With a slow uptake clutch system ensuring a smooth take off, the machine is easy to manoeuvre into and out of corners and comes with detachable transport wheels for safe transportation off the green.

The S500 features fully replaceable working parts, long life Q9 engine and easy to clean reels.

Dennis managing director Ian Howard said: "We take pride in continuing to work closely with the end users of professional groundcare machinery to make developments which enable them to achieve ever higher standards and greater efficiency."
