Turnberry could be just the start of Donald Trump's annexation of major golf. The American developer confirmed on Tuesday that he had bought himself a slice of The Open with the iconic Scottish links from Dubai in a cut-price £35.7 million "cash deal" - and now the billionaire expects to add the US Open to his empire.

Trump sealed the purchase on Tuesday night at what many will believe is a remarkable bargain price.
