Everris applauds Collier staff’s FACTS success

The sales team at Collier Turf Care, a leading independent distributor in the amenity and sports turf sector, supplying products throughout East Anglia, the South and the Midlands, has completed Fertiliser Advisers Certification and Training Scheme (FACTS) training and examination, meaning they are all now FQAs - FACTS Qualified Advisers.

The training was set up and supported by leading fertilizer manufacturer, Everris, formerly named Scotts.

"This is an excellent achievement," says Stephen Jacob, Business Development Manager for BASIS, the independent standards-setting organisation which administers FACTS. "It is particularly good to see companies who are prepared to invest in training and development, even in these difficult economic times."

Collier Turf Care's customers include golf clubs, bowls and cricket clubs, football and rugby clubs, private schools, local authorities and large private gardens.

Technical expertise is fundamental to Collier's business as the company's Commercial Director, Mark Bowley, explains: "Our customers rely on us to provide a full technical support service which is why 10 of our 11-strong sales force already hold the BASIS pesticide qualification, with the eleventh working towards achieving it. Looking forward, however, there are issues surrounding run-off and leaching of nutrients so, making sure the team is qualified to the best industry standards to provide best advice on fertilizers, was a logical step for us. Investing in training is part of our continuing commitment to our customers, suppliers and staff."

The company's commitment to training saw them take virtually the entire sales team off the road for four intensive training days delivered by David Lawson from STRI.

Richard Walton, Business Manager for Everris in the UK and Ireland, said: "As a company, we are committed to the ongoing education of the distributors and end-users of our products and in advocating the use of the right products, in the right way, in the right place, at the right time. We strive to provide the best quality products backed up by first-class technical advice. "
