Fontwell Park's feature raceday of the season, The National Spirit Hurdle, on Sunday 26th February was enhanced even further when a large appreciative audience of racegoers stayed at the winning enclosure after the main race to see the racecourse groundstaff receive their Neil Wyatt Groundstaff of the Year Award.
This is the most prestigious award for groundstaff in the racing industry, and Fontwell Park's succes was in the category of Best Jumps Racecourse.
Clerk of the Course, Ed Arkell, was quick to praise the work of the Head Groundsman, Paul Mant, and his full-time team of just two assistants, "I'm thrilled that the groundstaff team have been recognised for all their hard work. We have added two more fixtures to the calendar this year, which will add to the challenge for the groundstaff."
This award follows Fontwell Park's success in being named the Betview Racecourse of the Year in 2011.
