SCOTTS DEMYSTIFY TURF TROUBLESHOOTING

By Dave Steward

A new publication from the Scotts Company (UK) Ltd, designed to help turf managers select the best control programme for their sites, was introduced at SALTEX this year. The 56 page Scotts booklet, entitled Controls, is packed with explanatory information on how different turf chemicals and treatments work, and explains the benefits and applications of particular formulations.Scottscontrolbook.jpg

The new booklet will find a welcome reception from many Greenkeepers and Groundsmen, as pest and disease control is amongst the most complex and rapidly changing subjects in the industry. In addition to comprehensively reviewing the extensive Scotts range, the new publication also covers the Integrated Turf Management philosophy, current legislation relating to chemicals and includes detailed sections on weed, disease and pest recognition.

Scotts Technical Manager Simon Barnaby explained: "Turf managers are faced with many complex decisions in the context of pest and disease control and treatment. We have invested a lot of time and effort in preparing this publication to help our customers navigate their way through to the right selections."

"In addition, the brochure is structured in a way that will prove helpful in training new entrants to the industry in problem recognition and the correct use of treatments."
