Group Shot 3 Dec 2009.jpgTo win one high calibre award is an achievement any company would be rightly proud of, but winning three top level awards in the space of two weeks is the remarkable accomplishment of manufacturer Harrod UK Ltd.

Known for manufacturing sports equipment for top level venues such as Wembley Stadium and Twickenham as well as diversifying into a highly successful Horticultural division selling superior gardening products by mail order with a focus on 'grow your own', Lowestoft-based Harrod UK Ltd scored the top award at the inaugural Lowestoft & Waveney Chamber of Commerce Business Awards being named the Chamber & President's Outstanding Business of the Year. As well as scooping the highest honour of the night, Harrod UK also won the Jobcentre plus Award for Diversity in Business, and were highly commended in three further categories.

Hot on the heels of these regional awards, Harrod UK were further delighted to win the Investors in People Award for Delivering Business Improvement through People at the Personnel Today Awards held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London. This national award is new for 2008 and was introduced to recognise organisations who have invested in HR approaches that deliver business returns and maximise staff potential.

Manufacturing Director David Bowling remarked "It's not easy being a manufacturing company in the current UK climate; with increased competition from around the world the UK has seen manufacturing decline from 10 million jobs only 10 years ago to under 3 million jobs today. We feel very proud that we are a manufacturer who is continuing to flourish and fully appreciate that this could not be achieved without continued diversity, investment and most importantly our fantastic 120-strong workforce, without whose commitment and dedication these awards would not have been achieved".
