Golf club investors have one month to submit bids

Press Releasein Golf

Pub chains, hotels, leisure companies and other potential investors are being given a month to pitch for the chance to turn Birmingham's municipal golf courses into profitable sports facilities.

Already, a number of top companies have come forward with plans to open club houses, run restaurants, conference and function rooms and take on management of council golf courses.

Interest has also been expressed in re-opening pitch and putt courses and taking over council park space for Adventure golf.

The consultation over the future of golf in the city comes a month after it was announced that one of Birmingham's seven municipal courses, Hilltop in Handsworth, will close at the end of March after losing £239,000 last year.
