More than 10 greenkeepers from "top-quality" golf clubs across Scotland have met Donald Trump's right-hand man to discuss the possibility of taking a lead role at the US tycoon's resort near Aberdeen.
George Sorial, the Trump Organisation's head of international development, revealed he had met 12 possible candidates to take on the head greenkeeper's position at the course planned for Menie Estate, Balmedie.
Mr Sorial said the company had been inundated with people offering their expertise since winning approval for the development in November last year.
Speaking from his office in New York, Mr Sorial said the head greenkeeper's role would be a key job at the resort, which will feature two championship golf courses as well as a 450-bed hotel, 950 holiday homes and 500 private houses.
He admitted the hunt for the ideal candidate had started, but said it was complete speculation that anyone had been chosen.
He said: "Obviously we're trying to think as far ahead as we can. We have met a lot of greenkeepers but it's a little premature to make that decision.
"It's safe to say we've probably received resumes from 40 or 50 individuals and I've met personally with at least 12.
"Staffing of the greenkeepers is clearly one of the most important positions but we have not made a decision yet," he said.
However, he did reveal the successful candidate was likely to be from Scotland.
