1 Greenkeepers Port to Port challenge

stuart yarwood This morning a group of dedicated Greenkeepers have started their Port to Port challenge to raise money for the Help the Heroes.

The team, seen in the picture, are Tim Johnson, Edward Ainsworth, Stuart Walkinshaw and Stuart Yarwood. There's a rumour Gordon Irving will be joining them along the way, with possibly some other greenkeepers.

They are attempting to walk approximately 130 miles from Albert Dock in Liverpool to the Port of Hull in just four days pushing four pedestrian Ransomes mowers all the way. The aim is to complete thirty plus miles a day to keep them on target to reach their destination by Monday evening .

The mowers which have all been made safe (disconnected the blades), and were kindly supplied by Ransomes Jacobsen (www.ransomesjacobsen.com) who are supporting the challenge to raise much needed funds for this worthy cause.

All the funds raised to date are either allocated or spent on the direct, practical support of those wounded in the current conflicts. To date, H4H has funded a variety of projects including the £8m Rehabilitation Complex at Headley Court, a new £3.5m treatment centre for Combat Stress, adaptive adventure training through the Battle Back programme and the creation of a £6m Quick Reaction Fund to support individuals in need
