Hackney's Haggerston Park has won MyLocalPitch's June Outstanding London Sports Venue Award. The grassroots site is one of the borough's best loved facilities with access to football pitches, netball courts and tennis courts.

June saw a significant increase in grassroots tennis bookings at Haggerston Park as London has been gripped by tennis fever. AEGON Championships hosted at the Queen's Club and then Wimbledon in SW19 has seen Londoners dusting off their rackets and hitting the courts in their droves.

Haggerston Park is run by GLL, who strive to make community services and spaces better for everyone through investing in time, energy and people. June's grassroots award, which is determined by MyLocalPitch users, was based on pitch quality, venue amenities and customer experience.

MyLocalPitch is a platform for sports players who want to find and book sports venues in London. Users have the choice of over 1,000 venues for 16 featured sports.

Jamie Foale, Co-Founder of MyLocalPitch, commented: "Haggerston Park has always been a popular venue for our users and the tennis courts have been in huge demand throughout summer. The facilities are always of the highest standard and it's no wonder Haggerston is the latest recipient of our grassroots venue award."

Ashley Bickers, General Manager at Hackney Marshes Centre (pictured above) said: "I would like to thank everyone that voted for Haggerston Park as it wouldn't be the great success that it is without our users."
