Hydro Option makes Mid-Range Kubota Tractor easier to operate

kubota tractor l4100.jpgKubota's popular L4100 tractor, flagship of the firm's seven-model 'standard' 12-41hp tractor line, is now available with an easy-to-operate hydrostatic transmission (HST) in place of the eight forward/four reverse mechanical shuttle gearbox.

The new option further enhances a tractor that provides a proven-quality, competitively-priced alternative to lesser-known brands - with the reliability and back-up that comes from an established, global manufacturer.

The new HST option not only makes shifting from forward to reverse - and vice versa - even easier, but also allows infinite speed adjustment from standstill without requiring changes in engine rpm, and means the tractor can be controlled via a single pedal, eliminating the need to juggle clutch, brake and throttle.

That makes the tractor far easier to manoeuvre for novice operators, drivers who dislike lots of clutching, or simply those tackling long, demanding jobs requiring multiple forward/reverse changes, such as front-end loader work, yard manoeuvring, or end-of-row field turns. As such, it helps prolong clutch life on tractors carrying out these sorts of tasks.

While the standard shuttle transmission provides almost seamless directional changes between its four low-range speeds and four reverse gears, the hydrostatic option makes this shuttling even smoother and easier. There's no gear lever to worry about and no need to de-clutch, with the HST operated via a single, two-way, pivoting pedal to the operator's right, the toe pedal pressed for forward travel, and the heel for reverse.

Other aspects of the L4100 remain unchanged, with power sourced from a Kubota E-TVCS (Three Vortex Combustion System) indirect injection diesel engine, producing 41.6hp, and 34.5hp at the PTO. Fuel capacity is 42 litres.

In addition, standard specification includes four wheel drive, wet inboard disc brakes and a differential lock. At the rear is a 1,300kg capacity linkage with optional draft control, hydraulic live independent PTO, trailer tipping pipe and auxiliary hydraulic valves.

"The standard specification range of tractors from Kubota have proven to be very popular with customers who want a straightforward, value for money tractor, and the L4100HST gives our customers even more choice and will no doubt, prove just as popular, especially when they are considering a loader tractor," commented Dave Roberts, Kubota Tractor and Groundcare Division Sales and Marketing Manager.

The HST hydrostatic option is available on the L4100 now, and adds £1,300 + VAT to the £14,700 + VAT price of the standard tractor.
