0 Ian Botham says England were way off the pace at WACA

England showed themselves up to be one-trick ponies in Perth and they need to learn fast.

Their failure to adapt and cope with the swing of Mitchell Johnson and the pace and bounce of the WACA wicket is what cost them the game - and they should have done better.

It was almost as if they became frozen in the headlights and weren't able to shake themselves out of the trance they were in.

Batsmen came and went, and they were in their own little worlds - that didn't help anybody.

They had written off Johnson - I think we all had - but he came back tremendously well and showed the kind of ability he has. Now England must respond to him and come out firing themselves in Melbourne.
