Immediate and Total Water Ban Announced

Emergency water restrictions for sport and recreation venues in force as from today.

The Government has decided that urgent action is needed to protect domestic water supplies. In collaboration with the regional water authorities it has been decided that supplies to sport and recreation venues will be restricted with immediate effect.

The ban is being introduced and enforced using existing legislation.

The ban affects the use of hosepipes and sprinkler systems.

All clubs and organisations with responsibility for any sporting venue will need prior approval before watering of any kind can be undertaken. Failure to comply can result in a fine of up to £10,000.

Permission for use must be sought from the appropriate local water authority.

Understandably, there is a great deal of concern in the industry. Many clubs are in the process of renovating their pitches, and the thought of undertaking this work without access to water is unimaginable.

Other methods of watering will still be allowed, and Pitchcare has managed to source a few possible alternatives:-

Option 1

Option 2

Option 3
