The IOG will be launching an Ireland branch at Croke Park Stadium, Dublin, on May 26 during an IOG in Action day.

Joe Morgan (pictured), superintendent at Trinity College, will be chairman of the new branch for the Republic.

Other officers are Peter Wilson from Kings Hospital (a private school) who will be treasurer and Pamela Murphy of the Botanic Gardens in Dublin who will be secretary.

Committee members will be from Galway United (Noel Connolly), Waterford Institute of Technology (another Noel Connolly), Dublin GAA (Noel Brady from Parnel Park) and Dublin City Council (Pat Whelan).

A meeting was held to discuss founding the branch at Trinity College, Dublin.

Belfast is home to the Northern Ireland branch and members will be in Dublin to lend their support.

"There is a tremendous amount of commitment and enthusiasm," said Joe Morgan. "We are expecting more than 150 groundsmen from all over Ireland at the event."

The IOG in Action day will include a tour of the stadium, a talk on laying the pitch by John Hewitt, and technical information from Cranfield University surface experts and other turf industry advisors.
